Silver steels
Silver steel is a tool steel with a ground and polished surface. Silver steel is alloyed with chromium and vanadium for a high level of toughness and good cutting properties. It is particularly suitable for the production of cutting tools such as thread cutting tools, drills, reamers, milling cutters, countersinks, engraving tools, punching tools and ejectors.
The desired hardness of the silver steel can be set very accurately through hardening and subsequent tempering. As a cold-working tool steel, however, it is only suitable for tools which have surfaces that are not subject to high thermal stress.
Wilhelm Jungermann GmbH supplies silver steel (material 115 Cr V 3) as drawn bright steel in round bars (two and three metres long).
